My wonderful husband and I have been married 18 years. Many of those years we
spent trying to have a child – to no avail. We finally became parents through adoption – and have been for 5 years now. We currently have one son, but hope for more children in the coming years.
God was faithful through those years, and continues to be so now. I found several folks who had been through infertility and it was so helpful to talk with them. After becoming a parent, I had friends who had been there, too, that helped me through that first year. I still chat with folks now over handling those issues that come up with young children, or just laughing over some funny thing our kids have done.
Well, it’s time for me to offer that ear, encouragement and support to others that may not have someone to talk to where they are. Though infertility is part of who I am, as well as an adoptive mom, many other topics will likely come up, too, like homeschooling, living a spiritual life, healthy eating, exercise, parenting a rambunctious boy . . . Much of what I post will reflect where I am on my journey. But I also want to hear about your journey. So let’s walk alongside each other on the journey.
Hi –
I am currently pursuing adoption through the public system but I’m also trying really hard to find an ethical agency to work with. It’s really hard to know what the right thing is…
I’ll definitely keep checking out your blog.
Hi Amanda, nice to “meet” you. I look forward to hearing more about your journey. Be sure and check out some of the other adoption related sites in my blogroll – lot’s of different perspectives on adoption.
Hi, I’m an adoptive mother of five, and a homeschooler as well. hmmm…. have we met? I noticed your book list, we love a lot of the same authors: Piper, Tripp, Priolo, Plowman…even Carolyan McCulley!!! Do you go to an SG church???
Hi Juli, wouldn’t that be funny if we’ve met. Did you attend the “By Design” conference in Phoenix? And, yes I do attend an SG church. We went to a BGC church in VA and just discovered Sovereign Grace when we moved here. We’ll be moving again this summer, so who knows what we’ll discover next!
That is so cool : ) I didn’t go to the “By Design” conference, we are on the east coast (NC). Which SG church do you go to?? I found your site through researching about ethical adoptions… I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read of your posts. : ) I’m always reading about adoption. Our last adoption is open and I really want to care for our daughter’s birthmother well.
It’s nice to meet you!!!
Hi..I’m a fellow adoptive Mom. Are you in Phoenix, AZ? We adopted via the state, a toddler. It’s been challenging and rewarding. Hope to talk.
Debbie aka The Real World Martha
Hi Debbie!
Although I have been to the Phoenix a couple of times, I do not live there. It was on my list of places I hoped the Army would take us. But alas, we are now back home in TX as my husband wraps up his military career.
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to hearing more from you.
